Education Platform, Copilot

Led the Education squad as DRI, shipping multiple features to GA and driving significant engagement growth through AI-powered recommendations.

The Problem

Microsoft AI wanted to establish Copilot as the go-to AI tool for students and educators. This required building an entire education platform: not just one feature, but a comprehensive suite spanning homework help, practice tests, quizzes, flashcards, study and learn, and learn live.

Approach

As DRI (Directly Responsible Individual), I owned the entire Education experience workstream: scoping, timeline management, cross-functional coordination, and delivery. I shipped multiple features in rapid succession while maintaining quality and publishing weekly status reports to leadership.

Features Shipped

Homework Helper, GA Launch

Drove Homework Helper from initial rollout to full General Availability within Copilot’s Study & Learn mode. Led cross-functional execution to expand the feature beyond its original scope, shipping an iOS camera mode selector (Photo / Homework) and a new web entry point.

Proactive Quiz Recommendations

Shipped proactive quiz recommendations powered by AI context signals, generating significant engagement uplift: 2x Quiz DAU and strong quiz completion rates. This validated the education recommendation strategy and became a reference point for other proactive feature investments.

Practice Tests

Shipped Practice Tests to production with a disciplined, staged rollout. Monitored performance and quality metrics throughout the ramp to ensure a clean ship with no regressions.

Impact

Under my leadership, the Education squad drove significant week-over-week engagement growth, validating the AI-powered education strategy and establishing Copilot as a compelling tool for students.
