Latent is an educational app that teaches AI literacy. We built Latent to be private by default. This policy explains what the app does — and does not do — with your information.
Latent does not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email, or any personal identifier to use the app.
Your learning progress — lessons completed, streaks, quiz results, and sandbox activity — is stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to us or anyone else.
The hands-on sandbox runs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device frameworks (Foundation Models, Natural Language, Vision, Speech, and Image Playground). Text you type, photos you choose, and audio you speak are processed on-device and are not sent to us or to any server.
The Live Speech exercise uses your microphone only while you are actively using that exercise, to transcribe your speech to text on your device. Audio is processed on-device in real time and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted.
The Vision Lab exercise analyzes a photo you explicitly choose. Latent uses the system photo picker and does not access your photo library; the selected image is processed on-device and is not uploaded.
Latent writes anonymous, non-identifying usage events to your device's local system log to help diagnose issues. These logs remain on your device and are not transmitted to us.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Latent never receives your payment details. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
Latent is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will change accordingly.
